History
ECD was founded in mid 1994 to address pressing economic and community development needs in the 58 Delta county and parish area of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Since that time, ECD has grown and expanded its products and services to include mortgage lending, technical assistance, and consumer financing. The organization is also utilizing the New Markets Tax Credit program to begin serving all of its three-state market area and to begin reaching into Tennessee.
Since it began operations in 1994, the Enterprise Corporation of the Delta
(ECD) has worked to help break the cycle of poverty in the Delta regions
of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi by undertaking a range of income
and asset development strategies designed to benefit the region's low-
and moderate-income residents. Most significantly, ECD has provided financing
and technical assistance to small businesses toward the goal of creating,
strengthening and retaining good jobs. Through its development financing
activities, ECD has generated more than $300 million in financing and
assisted more than 30,000 entrepreneurs, homebuyers and nonprofits. These
outcomes have been achieved through deliberate and constant collaboration
with other economic and community development entities.
In addition to its core business of providing financing and related assistance, ECD has achieved notable success in building partnerships with banks, corporations, public agencies, community organizations and others that provide essential resources needed to spur economic development in the region. These alliances further its mission and establish ECD as a valuable contributor to community and economic development. Moreover, ECD has established a viable demand for development finance services in economically distressed communities in the Delta and throughout the Mid South.
You can look at the significant milestones ECD has reached during its
13-year effort to bring change and opportunities to the Mid South.
